If you name your files something like lotr-fotr1.mkv and lotr-fotr2.mkv and put them in the same folder, software like Mediabrowser will play it back as if it were one file. Considering that the 4K blu-ray box set of the LOTR trilogy is $90 and the Hobbit Trilogy is $95 buying digitally from iTunes would save me $135. My only hangup is that the iTunes collection on sale right now is HD because the 4K version doesn't come out until December. I know that Apple typically upgrades HD copies to 4K once that is available I don't own one, but I'm reading that there are issues with playing LOTR on 4K BR on the PS5. There seems to be issues with either the discs, the hardware, or a little of both. The more data points we can get, the better. Praise should be sung once more for Mr. Jackson & company's improvements on The Two Towers — the Extended Edition does what the extensions did for Fellowship by enriching both the story and the characters with details and grace notes — though not as directly.
