Total War: MEDIEVAL II - Definitive Edition. Releasing more than 80 gives a bigger boost, and every general you release is worth more too. Divide and Conquer, the biggest (and frankly best) overall mod out there if you want a LotR conversion. Stainless Steel, the 2nd best. If you want to experience Medieval II, but better and with tons of additional factions and a much bigger map this is THE mod you want to try. Also comes with several submods of its own which add even more factions. Sure. I just finished a 170+ campaign in Medieval 2. The main staple of Medieval 2 is the moddability of the game and the insane amount of total conversion mods there are. That said, dont go judging the game to modern standards, it is after all some 16 years old by now. Shogun 2 (and FotS) and Napoleon Total War are the best vanilla experiences, for me anyway. I think Third Age with the MOS submod is the absolute best Medieval 2 can get. One of my most immersive gaming experiences was playing a Eriador campaign and reforging the Kingdom of Arnor. Honestly, the end turn phase time is what broke Stainless steel Medi 2 is a classic. Once again, if you became comfortable with the new systems it’ll feel a bit off for a few turns. Definitely worth 5$ though. It also gives you an appreciation for the evolution of this title. Makes Attila battles seem smooth for example. kakihara0513 • 4 yr. ago. Walls (Medieval II: Total War) Walls are buildings in Medieval II: Total War. A wall is essential to defenses of town or city. It also enables building of towers and without building wall, town or city cannot be improved to next level. Wall are are also important, when it comes to free upkeep garrison units number, but only units recruited in Gdd9. Ladders are more reliable but you take more losses because the tower blocks arrows. However, you take more losses if the tower burns (bit rare and requires player focus). I always go with ladders. A faster siege is usually a better one. You gotta deploy them in bulk though, one unit of ladders is a bit weak since they don't stream in together. Medieval 2 was a haven for Total War modders for over a decade after its release in 2006, and it still boasts some of the best fan-made creations – from Lands to Conquer, whichadds the Hundred Years War and Reconquista conflict, to Stainless Steel, which tweaks and builds on virtually every aspect of the game. I strongly recommend to use Darthmod. It has a legendary battle system. And makes everything better. It makes Medieval2 best TW game. I didn't say I thought it would be more difficult. I simply want to enjoy the Vanilla game for now, to fully appreciate it as CA designed it. Thanks for letting me know, though. Total War: Medieval 2. Released in 2006, this is the oldest Total War game on the list, but one that many veterans of the series insist has yet to be surpassed. Perhaps it’s the turbulence and
